Just wanted to know if soy products are ok for rats. Like the Fry's sausages, patties etc. I am vegetarian and I am finding it a bit hard to supplement my ratties diets with enough protein

I've always steered clear of soy, simply because the online information seems to suggest that it can have its benefits but too much can be harmful. But I'm sure small quantities should be fine. Maybe discuss with a vet if you're concerned?

I've given organic soy milk for my boys, but I'm not keen on the actual food for rats because of salt etc. But as a once in a while treat wouldn't be a problem.
You can also give almond milk as a source of protein, but it's really not that necessary if you have the PTA or Snuggarat mixes. There is sufficient protein in the mixes.

We eat very little meat and our boys almost never get any either. Their dry mix and dinner veg have plenty of sources of protein so I don't think it's something you need to worry about too much as rats get older (young growing rats need more protein but this need decreases as they get to their full size).
