She says she has had the captcha disabled, so the problem should be solved now. Hopefully people are able to join up without hassle if they try again.

There are people wanting to join the forum who says they received a message asking for a security code?

Two of my girls over the years have had strokes. Both were still alive when I found them but suffering side effects ie: paralysis, loss of cognitive function. Sadly there is not much that can be done if they are very far gone, smaller strokes can be treated and rats can recover. Seizures are horrible. Mavdb had a couple of boys with issues, you may be able to find posts here on the forum.

@  lollyh : (25 June 2018 - 04:33 PM)

Thank you caryn.yes i know you would.:-).i love her so much.i dont care about the cost.really i dont.even though everyone around me says im mad & just put her down. :bigeyecry: .no unfortunately i don't have an edgars account.

@  Caryn : (25 June 2018 - 11:43 AM)

Sorry you're going through that with your girl. You know I'd opt for the surgery, Dr O says he can do it and I trust him completely. I realise cost is an issue though. Do you have an Edgars acct you can pay with or can you sign a debit order with them? That's what I usually do for larger surgery costs.

i have such a hard decision to make. :bigeyerat:

Hi there,

So I think I have a naugty boy on my hands... I feed Reggie Rat and he loves it all and cleans the plate.

However, the ONLY Veg i can get him to eat are green peas. He loves them. But he won't eat anything else. I've tried cooking it even!!

Some fruits he kind of thinks about but won't really eat unless I refuse to feed the Reggie Rat.

Had him for quite a while, and I try my best.

I also have concern about his weight, I think he may be chubby. Is there anything I should/can do?

Please note I live in PE where it is very difficult to find any speciality rat products. It is a mission just trying to find reggie rat sometimes!!

Any tips????

Hi there GeorgieH. .. I'm originally from PE so I know exactly what you saying when it comes to getting things for your babies. .. check out Mischief Rat Products on FB... you can purchase a range of products and good food for then their and then it shall be courier down to you... If may seem like alot to do so... but it is so so worth it...

As for the veg.. perhaps he is already full by the time you offer him veggies... cut down on your dry mix that it is finished by the afternoon and then feed him the wet food at 8 in the evening... he shall want to eat by then... check out PTA rattery page for for information on diet etc... and join the Pet Rat Support Group on FB too...

I'm sure many peeps shall assist and help you here as well... wishing you all the best... and all our babies get a little chubby at some point....

Sometimes a rat just does not like certain veg. We've had rats that only ate certain veg but have slowly started eating more variety. Our boys will first pick out the best bits from dinner (peas or corn) they leave the rest (red peppers, carrots, cucumber, apple, broccoli etc) but by morning there is nothing left so they eventually eat everything. Our boys also learn from each other so if a new rat is not familiar with a fruit or veg they might not try it immediately but when they see the others eating they learn to like it.

How old is this rat and what does he weigh? if he is on the chubby side then perhaps try scatter feeding or cutting down on food a little bit (peas are high in sugar so perhaps don't give him too much).

+1 to Mavdb.  I also find that young rats can be really fussy about veg and fruit until they got a bit older and then started eating them. So you have to just keep trying and leaving the food in the cage for awhile for them to investigate.

PS: If you're having trouble finding Reggie Rat locally, then try Takealot (if you use a tablet or phone to order then delivery is free)  I also find that Takealot is around R40 cheaper per bag than my local stores :)

Banana has been a big hit with all my boys as well.

Other veggies like broccoli and pumpkin they seem to like for a while, but as soon as I give them it too often they go off it and I have to find another veggie they like. And then I can only go back to broccoli or pumpkin later again.
