She says she has had the captcha disabled, so the problem should be solved now. Hopefully people are able to join up without hassle if they try again.

Ah geez, I'll see if I can reach Tails about it

@  ronelrat : (08 July 2018 - 10:02 AM)

There are people wanting to join the forum who says they received a message asking for a security code?

@  Caryn : (07 July 2018 - 05:49 PM)

Two of my girls over the years have had strokes. Both were still alive when I found them but suffering side effects ie: paralysis, loss of cognitive function. Sadly there is not much that can be done if they are very far gone, smaller strokes can be treated and rats can recover. Seizures are horrible. Mavdb had a couple of boys with issues, you may be able to find posts here on the forum.

@  lollyh : (07 July 2018 - 01:56 PM)

Thank you caryn.im so heartsore.i went out for dinner last night & he was fine, came back home 1 hour later & found him at the bottom of the cage like he was didnt know where he was . :puppy_dog_eyes: .do you have any knowledge on seizures or strokes?

You're not mad at all for wanting to help her :ratsad:

@  lollyh : (25 June 2018 - 04:33 PM)

Thank you caryn.yes i know you would.:-).i love her so much.i dont care about the cost.really i dont.even though everyone around me says im mad & just put her down. :bigeyecry: .no unfortunately i don't have an edgars account.

@  Caryn : (25 June 2018 - 11:43 AM)

Sorry you're going through that with your girl. You know I'd opt for the surgery, Dr O says he can do it and I trust him completely. I realise cost is an issue though. Do you have an Edgars acct you can pay with or can you sign a debit order with them? That's what I usually do for larger surgery costs.

@  lollyh : (25 June 2018 - 09:34 AM)

i have such a hard decision to make. :bigeyerat:

Hey,I am somewhat new to this forum(my first time posting a topic) but love reading other topics. I have a rat girl atm(Kahlua). Yesterday I took in another female rat from a client who does not want her anymore since she has a huge mammary tumour. I intend to look into options of surgery and hoping to avoid pts,but am also worried about the cost, then again,I cannot leave her to suffer and want her to live a happy ratty life with us. My current rat girl Kahlua, tries to hurt her,so they stay separated for now. If this new rat survives surgery etc,I would like to get her a friend. I also have a friend who wants to adopt 2 female babies. Soooo, does anybody know of a place that rescues rats in the capetown area? We prefer rescues, since we work with many rescue animals etc. Thank you

You might want to try PM Heidi here on the forums or check our the breeders listed on the Ratanooga homepage... a few of them take in rescues or take back their own rats via contract from owners unable to keep them.

If your friend could be convinced to take boys, I know someone who has 5 white baby boys who need homes. If not, ditto to what Caryn said. :) And welcome!!

Hi there I currently own 2 rats, only about 2,5 months old. Unfortunately I can't keep them as I am more allergic than I realised. They are both girls, and are very sweet (agouti and black). I have a friend coming to CT who will look after them over Christmas but after that I need to find them a new home. Would you be interested?

There is an introduction guide on the ratanooga website. I highly recommend this method if you want to introduce your new girl to your current girl successfully.

Rats are like cheesecake...
They're soft, fluffy and sweet, come in many styles and are wonderfully satisfying. But they always leave you wanting more

Ag shame Corli - are these still the little ones you raised? I would so love to help and my heart says - you can do it - but really I can't - it would mean that (financially) I would not be able to give them all the care they would need - sorry - but I will keep on :crossfingers: they find good homes. *hugs*

@MadRatter, yup, the same ones... shamepies... I'm trying not to think about them too much, guess it's part of life. I have the same problem as you do, otherwise I would've taken them... but it'll just be bad for them and for my girls.

At least that person that got a pregnant female from the petshop will now be spreading the word to warn other people not to make the same mistake.
